How To Use Essential Oils To Treat Asthma Naturally

 

Aromatherapy has been famous lately as a natural way to solve many health problems. Essential oils can help many health conditions, such as breath relief in cold or flu, relaxation, and emotion balancing. Aromatherapy is also very useful to treat asthma symptoms.

These are some tasks that aromatherapy provides for asthma patient,
 

  • Decongestant

  • Anti-histamine

  • Stimulate respiratory system

  • Enhancing deep breathing and allow lungs to expand

  • Open the airways

  • Reduce bronchospasm intensity

  • Reduce bronchiale inflammation

  • Relax the mind

Essential oils that are effectively used in aromatherapy for asthma

  • Lavender – to open airways, ease lungs spasm, and relax mind

  • Chamomile – to work as anti-histamine and reduce bronchial spasm intensity

  • Marjoram, peppermint, ginger, frankincense, rose – to allow lungs to expand

  • Eucalyptus – to reduce broncial inflammation

  • Honey – to ease breathing

  • Mustard (rye) – to loosen mucus

Essential oil recipes for asthma aromatherapy

For massage (salve)


Therapy #1

Ingredients:

5 drops Ravensara (Ravensara Aromatica)
5 drops Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris)
5 drops Myrtle Honey (Myrtus Vulgaris)
5 drops Chamomile Roma (Anthemis Nobile)
10 ml Echinacea exctract (Echinacea Purpurea)
15 ml Clean water

Rub to the chest, neck and throat twice a day. This therapy will help asthma patient to boost the immune system, cure the infection and act as expectorant and bronchodillator.

Therapy #2

Ingredients:
Mustard oil
Camphor (just a little)

Massage on the chest to loosen up mucus and ease breathe.

Therapy #3

Ingredients:
28 drops Cedarwood (Juniperus Virginiana) 
12 drops Clary Sage (Salvia Sclarea)
2 drops Ravensara (Ravensara Aromatica)

Rubbing this therapy to the chest before morning shower can stimulate the respiratory system.

Therapy #4

Ingredients:
4 drops Frankincense (Boswellia Carteria)
4 drops Sandalwood (Santalum Album)
4 drops German Chamomile (Matricaria Chamomila)
8 drops Clary Sage (Salvia Sclarea)
4 drops Ginger (Zingiber Officinalis)

Rub and massage to the back and shoulder area, upper chest and feet. That will help you to decrease bronchiale inflammation, reduce muscles spasm, and calm the central nervous system.

 



For steam

Ingredients:

¼ tsp Eucalyptus (eucalyptus smithii)
3 cups Clean water

 

Direction:

  • Simmer the water in a pan.

  • Turn off heat, and add the eucalyptus oil.

  • Sit down and set the pan position in front of you.

  • Place your face over the steam and drape a towel over the back of your head.

  • Close your eyes during the steam.

  • Breathe in the steam.

  • Repeat the therapy three times a day.
