Meditation

Reduce Asthma Symptoms By Practicing Meditation!

Meditation is one activity that can give you many health advantages at the same time, physical health, mental and mind health, emotional and spiritual health. According to wikipedia, meditation is practices done by a sole practitioner without much, if any, external aid, often for the purpose of self-transformation. Here in this article we are going to look at how meditation could help you to reduce asthma symptoms.

Meditation reduces muscles tension by decreasing stress response. Deep breathing, which is the main activity in practicing meditation, increases oxygen circulation to muscles, making your muscles to loosen. Doing frequent meditation will help people with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and asthma, cause stress is one of the cause of these diseases.

Meditation also helps to strengthen immune system, improve digestive and lymph function, which at the end will improve energy level. For asthma patient, stressed condition could trigger asthma. Practicing meditation will help them to get relaxed, and this condition will reduce the risk of asthma attack.

How To Do Meditation

Everybody can do meditation everywhere, to every purposes. I'll discuss here two major meditation techniques, which are,

Meditation with Concentration

Meditation by focusing mind and attention to one specific object: your own breath, certain picture or candle lights, a voice, or even repetitive motion. This mind focusing is a way to keep the mind still, to enable us to find clarity and a higher consciousness. Praying, progressive relaxation, transcendental meditation (TM) are few of many examples of meditation with concentration.

Meditation with Mindfulness

It is when we, with full awareness, are opening our mind to the sensation flow, feeling, mind, voices, and anything else come across our mind, without judging it on purpose. We can do meditation with mindfulness by sitting peacefully and just witnessing everything that come to us, without giving any reaction or letting our mind involved on it.

Instead of focusing only to one specific thing like meditation with concentration, we open our mind just like a wide angle lens. Including in this technique are zen, yoga, Tao, Tai Chi, Chinese calligraphy or even Japanese tea ritual.

Whichever technique you choose, it is recommended to do it with a trainer or by joining a meditation club. Or.... you might want to learn and practice meditation from these resources...

Meditation To Help Relieve Asthma (Audio Cassette)
by : Belleruth Naparstek

There is no one right way to go with Belleruth Naparstek on a journey, no one right way to "visualize." That may sound too basic a directive, but Naparstek encourages listeners to linger over any given image or rearrange her words and phrases into something that works more effectively. Imagery designed to help reduce swollen linings in the lungs, dissolve mucous, and loosen tightened muscle bands in the airways; to help neutralize the histamine response in the mast cells; to reduce anxiety; to help the listener feel more cushioned. Side B is affirmations.
